Biological PURE BEEF - free from growth hormones, antibiotics, GMO feed and vaccination


Through this initiative, every part of the ​animal is utilized efficiently to minimize ​waste. We acquire the whole cow and divide ​it into categories to ensure an equal ​distribution of various cuts.


All orders are prepackaged for frozen ​delivery to maintain the highest quality ​of meat. Each cut is labeled with its cut ​name, weight, slaughter date, and best ​before date. Delivery inclusive to your ​town/city.

We source and vet our producers to ensure the animals are treated with the utmost in ​animal welfare and continue to be raised without growth hormones, GMO feed, antibiotics ​and vaccinations.

We aim to maximize the use of the animal by providing premium cuts from North America ​and primal cuts from Portugal. Whether you opt for the 5kg or 10kg box, you will receive ​cuts from all parts of the animal. Additional items are available upon request when ​placing your order. Special requests are also welcome and accommodated based on ​availability at the time of the request.

ABOUT THE MEAT

The Barrosã cattle breed from Portugal ​is known for its large distinctive ​horns and its delicate meat. They graze ​freely in the northern Portuguese ​highlands, contributing to landscape ​preservation and biodiversity. Once ​numerous, their population decreased ​due to industrialization. The ​protection of Carne Barrosã, with DOP ​recognition, helps preserve this ​national heritage and the local ​economy.


WHO ARE WE

We hail from Toronto, Canada, with a background in the hospitality ​industry, owning restaurants, food trucks, and a catering company. The ​demanding nature of this industry prompted us to prioritize our health. ​Upon moving to Portugal, sourcing the cleanest and purest meat became ​our top concern. It took us two years to locate farmers and producers ​who shared our values of purity. Our project initially stemmed from the ​need to provide for our family, eventually attracting like-minded ​individuals seeking similar products. This marked the inception of what ​we now refer to as "The Portuguese Beef Initiative”
